Multi:culture/media/practice
This project I think ties in most of my previous thoughts. I am of Mexican and European heritage. I am an immigrant in a country to which I have become assimilated. I am a graphic designer who makes work outside and within the realm of traditional graphic design. I make music, images, and installation. I am interested in provocation, intuition, and randomness. Above all I am a wordsmith.
My role as graphic designer and artist is what interests me and how I can tie it in conceptually and formally to my interests in other cultures, such as Iceland; as well as interactive installation work. Also my "IM" year at CalArts and my modification of the curriculum created a space for my idiosyncratic, ad hoc approach to making.

El Lissitsky
In this collage, El Lissitsky, brings attention to the tools of the designer. The compass, his eyes, photographs, grids, typography, and of course his hands. Integrated Media Arts utilizes the same tools as the modern graphic designer, and so I see no reason why graphic design should be made using only adobe approved products. I am not making some extreme denunciation against these tools, I find them very useful, but as code these tools are undifferentiated, they are all ones and zeros.
